Christchurch is an earthquake struck city, devoid of big-ticket tourist attractions other cities boast. We needed a way to demonstrate what people could expect to see when they got there, and how the city was evolving day by day. The Discovery Stream website is an online broadcast of the Christchurch tourism experience in real time, aggregating people’s experiences of the city from images travellers and locals snapped on the ground. They were encouraged to hashtag their images using Christchurch's hashtag #chch and share on Twitter and Instagram. We turned the problem of 24/7 social media coverage into our solution.
