The one that got away.

After the struggle, the fighting and the splashing just stopped. But I couldn’t give up. With the weight and the waves smacking against the side of the boat, it was always going to be hard to get him aboard. Then, as I was getting close, he got away from me. His body started to sink deeper and I couldn’t reach him. He was my dad. And I miss him.
