In New Zealand, Volkswagen are seen as premium European cars, and are thought to be too expensive by many new car buyers. Volkswagen wanted to change the perception, they reduced the cost of their cars across the range, making Volkswagen even more affordable. Our challenge was to highlight the value of a new Volkswagen without cheapening the brand. The Insight: People are happy to spend money on the things they value. That is, until they realize they could get something else that they value even more.
