We wanted to communicate travel in a totally genuine manner and show destinations in a way that the viewer would feel, not just watch. The film documents real New Zealanders’ travel experiences in an authentic and photographic way to showcase the belief that it’s not just where you go, it’s where that place takes you. The musical score and sound design underpinning the film also help set a tone that is intended to explore personal memory rather than the traditional travel advertising approach of producing aspirational, carefully constructed scenes in idyllic locations.
House of Travel deliver an incredible range of tailored travel experiences, and we wanted to present this in an authentic and photographic way that explores personal memory. When we are on holiday the day seems to stretch out longer than when we are in our everyday routine, and it was a great challenge and joy to explore this concept of time. Sound played a huge part of that communication, tapping into a more heightened and dreamlike world.
