Brief Explanation

A Day in the Life of Kerala is a satire that Celebrates the Competitive Spirit of the Modern Malayalee. An authentic newspaper commentary on the state of Kerala today, where Competition breeds Chaos. Amplified with the voice of local Malayalam folk singer - Kalabhavan Mani. In fact the soundtrack is satirical poetry narrated in the original folk expression of chaotic competition. And the form revives the ancient 'Naadan Paatu' folk news narrative tradition of Kerala, with a liberal dose of modern metaphors. The day begins with a political stand off between left party and right party on two boats that crash into each other and soon the river is blocked from left bank to right bank, creating a bottleneck in the backwaters, And hundreds boats lie moored in a crazy traffic jam. Competition breeds Chaos but triggers Innovation, as some locals use the stranded boats as a bridge over the backwaters... It happens only in Kerala. The narrative amplifies the bottleneck on the backwaters like the metaphor of Indian crabs in a can, that are stuck in a self made jam. In a land that’s always been at war with its opposite self, the soundtrack celebrates the competition.
