Future Folklore is a series of 3 animated fables with a modern twist. It demonstrates how the imagination present in Chinese folklore stories is now being used in GE’s innovative technology to solve modern issues. In Chinese folklore, characters used imagination and smarts to overcome the challenges they faced. Today, GE harnesses the power of imagination to make life better for people around the world. The familiar and accessible animation style gave us an edge to capture our target audience’s attention and we capitalized on their online news reading and content watching habits to deliver the message. The stories were seeded in major financial and business sites as short video banners. This sparked interest in the complete fables as they were released one by one on GE’s Sina Weibo page. Targets are encouraged to share with their peers to help further spread the word and had the chance to participate with the help of photo morphing technology and become the hero of their very own fable.
