On a shoestring budget, the challenge was to produce a brochure that was interesting and eye catching enough to appeal to graphic designers.
Steve Bland is a highly skilled, creative Photoshop retoucher. His brief was to create a promotional brochure to showcase his magical skills and reflect his sense of fun and humour.
We renamed and repositioned Steve Bland as ‘The Great Blandini – Photoshop wizard extraordinaire’. We then created 'The Little Book of Photo-shoppe Trickery', featuring 10 of Steve’s favourite Photoshop tricks. We also featured some ‘magical’ Victorian inspired retouches. Tricks such as sawing the lady in half, and turning a man into a lion. All of the typography in the brochure in painstakingly hand-rendered with calligraphy pens and ink – yes, even the body copy! The words themselves are equally crafted, creating a tongue-in-cheek tone drawn from Victorian playbills.
Steve has enjoyed an astronomical rise in profile. The brochure went viral, featuring on design blogs throughout the world, including Creative Review. This has resulted in over 2000 new business leads for Steve and has significantly impacted on his business.
